MORE FORCED UNIONIZATION

More Forced Unionization
A group of personal care providers who work in homes in Illinois filed a class-action lawsuit this week against Governor Pat Quinn and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). They’re suing because some of the 20,000 of the home-based workers have, against their will, been made dues-paying "public employees" of the state.
The National Right to Work Foundation represents some of the thousands of care providers who have turned down union membership, but may still have to fend off union bosses.
(T)he home-care providers may again be subject to out-of-state SEIU and American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union organizers making “home visits” attempting to organize the home-care providers through coercive “card check” unionization tactics.
I've reported on the forced unionization racket in Michigan, where home-based day-care providers, some of whom own their businesses and do not wish to belong to a union, are nevertheless forced to pay union dues. The state deducts the dues from their paychecks when they care for children receiving welfare. The Mackinac Center sued Michigan on behalf of the day-care owners; that case is now before the Michigan Supreme Court.

EXCERPT FROM THE iam FACEBOOK PAGE FROM A EX-UNION OFFICIAL

I have been on both sides, in union jobs and at Delta. I am retired from Delta and I see the IAM and its supporters making outrageous claims and outright lies. Seniority is used in almost every instance at Delta. Tom when I was an IAM member in the 70's the membership was much higher, you're losing members every year. Edwin, don't tell me about ... See MoreSWA, I helped organize them under the IAM in 1977, our first contract was $600 a month and it has taken them 33 years to get to their current pay scale. They are a different kind of carrier than Delta, no freight or cargo, no mail, no small packages and only carry luggage. Mgt style and strategy, one kind of A/C is why they can pay a higher rate but w/o having to pay union dues Delta agents make about $500 a month more than comparable airline like NWA, plus DL has profit sharing, stock options, 401K matching funds, bonus for certain performance goals met, retirement, insurance and 3 more holidays a year and DL employees get 4 weeks after 10 yrs while it takes NWA employees 16 yrs.

Another iam fabrication. followed by the truth!

"I spoke to a former ASA, current Delta employee today at work and was told by him that after Delta acquired ASA he only got credit for half of his seniority. He said he hired at ASA in 2000 but he only gets credit for 5 years. So all you pre-merger NW think again before you say you don't need the IAM and they are only ou...t for your money. The IAM is the reason you will be getting full credit for all years of survive with the company and not just half or the 1 year for every 3 they were planed

The reason ASA seniority was cut in half was because they were owned by SKYWEST and not Delta when Delta took over the ramp and above wing functions. Delta has already stated that seniority would be d.o.h. for all employees pmdl and pmnw. The union chose not to participate in the process. True date of hire is the only fair way to go regardless of job classifaction. With the iam if you transfer from one dept to anotheer, you start at zero seniority. There was never a 1 for 3 plan . Another attempt by the iam to distort the facts. The union was invited to participate in the seniority integration process and declined.

The addition of 2000 former ASA to Delta positions is a positive thing for Delta, more jobs for Delta. Instead of a positive spin those in the iam bring up the negative of the ASA getting only half their seniority. Delta had no obligation to give them anything but did, this was a totally separate company from DL and unlike a merger, with 'merger ... See Moreprotection provisions' this protected career Delta employees with a cushion and additional work. Currently at Delta, w/o a contract you do not lose any seniority if you go between work areas, ramp, above wing, cargo, reservations so you have protection. Let's say you hurt your back at NWA and can't do the job anymore, you could go to another area but lose your seniiority. So how is the IAM helping or protecting you in this manner. At Delta you at least have a choice and the Company has done this and given workers this benefit. Seniority does count at Delta.

MORE iam SHENANIGANS

comIAM&AW’s Private Jet makes the news… again!Page 4www.19MACHINISTS.comEmployees File Federal Class Action Suit to Halt Abusive Mandatory Union Dues SchemeAberdeen, Maryland (September 21, 2009) – Today, two employees filed a class action federal suit challenging the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers (IAM) union’s nationwide policy requiring employees to object year after year to paying union dues they cannot be lawfully forced to pay. With free legal aid from the National Right to Work Foundation, Jacobs Technology Incorporated employees Rick Gor-ham and Robert Negosta are challenging the IAM union officials’ scheme intended to thwart non-union members’ legal rights to refrain from paying union dues for union electioneering and other non-bargaining activities. Foundation attor-neys filed the complaint in Maryland’s U.S. District Court on behalf of the two employees and all of Jacobs Technology’s other similarly-situated employees. In the Foundation-won Communication Workers of America v. Beck (1988), the U.S. Supreme Court held that union offi-cials can lawfully compel nonmembers to pay union dues as a job condition, but not the part of dues spent for non-bargaining activities like political activ-ism, lobbying, and member-only events. However, these limited rights have been difficult to enforce, as union officials often concoct illegal schemes such as these “annual objection” poli-cies to burden or thwart employees from exercising their rights. While the IAM union hierarchy’s annual objection policy should not apply to employees who have refrained from IAM union membership, IAM union offi-cials still illegally require nonmember employees nationwide to file formal objections every year. Additionally, IAM union bosses regularly change the dates for the annual thirty-day window period ostensibly to create additional confusion.Foundation attorneys won a similar case challenging the IAM’s annual objection policy under the Railway Labor Act in a U.S. District Court in Virginia. The court forced the union to abandon the policy, but the union lawyers are trying to keep the policy in force in all workplaces not governed by that statute. Foundation attorneys are now challenging the policy that applies to employees covered by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).“These workers are taking a courageous stand against funding the Machinist union bosses’ radical political agenda and fat-cat lifestyles,” said Stefan Gleason, vice president of the National Right to Work Foundation. “No worker should be compelled to hand over their hard earned dollars so that IAM union bosses can play politics or take vacations with the union’s $2 million private jet.”

MORE TRUE FACTS ABOUT THE IAM

The IAM&AW does not only want your dues money, they want your retirement money. The flight attendants of Local Lodge 2339N voted this down very loudly! It also gives the IAM&AW a stronghold on anyone they organize because members are afraid of losing the retirement fun...d if they ever vote the IAM&AW off the property. Insurance for the IAM&AW to keep your dues rolling in. Ask the IAM&AW what happens to the IAM&AW's retirement plan and your money if they are ever thrown off the property by the members through a decertification election by the members.

People who live in glass houses should`nt throw stones

A lot of folks in Sea and throughout AS are out of work because they trusted the iam. The iam abused Alaska Air policy, which led to the contracting out of the majority of ramp and baggage transfer jobs to outside contractors. All this talk of protecting our jobs is just a smokescreen.
The iam accuses Delta of witholding information, when in reality it is the iam who hides the truth.

OH MY!! ANOTHER iam SCANDAL!!!

I know the 700,000 ex-members feel VERY productive when they UNLEASHED the hold the "GOOD OLD BOYS CLUB" of the IAM&AW had on them. 3 people OR OVER 700,000. FACTS are in the NUMBERS
