Another iam fabrication. followed by the truth!

"I spoke to a former ASA, current Delta employee today at work and was told by him that after Delta acquired ASA he only got credit for half of his seniority. He said he hired at ASA in 2000 but he only gets credit for 5 years. So all you pre-merger NW think again before you say you don't need the IAM and they are only ou...t for your money. The IAM is the reason you will be getting full credit for all years of survive with the company and not just half or the 1 year for every 3 they were planed

The reason ASA seniority was cut in half was because they were owned by SKYWEST and not Delta when Delta took over the ramp and above wing functions. Delta has already stated that seniority would be d.o.h. for all employees pmdl and pmnw. The union chose not to participate in the process. True date of hire is the only fair way to go regardless of job classifaction. With the iam if you transfer from one dept to anotheer, you start at zero seniority. There was never a 1 for 3 plan . Another attempt by the iam to distort the facts. The union was invited to participate in the seniority integration process and declined.

The addition of 2000 former ASA to Delta positions is a positive thing for Delta, more jobs for Delta. Instead of a positive spin those in the iam bring up the negative of the ASA getting only half their seniority. Delta had no obligation to give them anything but did, this was a totally separate company from DL and unlike a merger, with 'merger ... See Moreprotection provisions' this protected career Delta employees with a cushion and additional work. Currently at Delta, w/o a contract you do not lose any seniority if you go between work areas, ramp, above wing, cargo, reservations so you have protection. Let's say you hurt your back at NWA and can't do the job anymore, you could go to another area but lose your seniiority. So how is the IAM helping or protecting you in this manner. At Delta you at least have a choice and the Company has done this and given workers this benefit. Seniority does count at Delta.

The Delta Difference

Currently under Delta Air Lines the average worker is exposed daily to varied and numerous control tactics utilized by management. Here are just a few examples:

1. Fear and intimidation – especially when you’re called into a manager’s office for any violation of Delta policy. There are no union stewards to represent you, nor is there any grievance to process when treated unfairly.

2. Misrepresentation of truth and facts. The truth is whatever Delta tells you it is. The facts are whatever Delta wants to represent them as. Delta will speak, print and post whatever they desire in the workplace under the guise of keeping you informed. Union information is
prohibited to prevent you from gaining valuable information on union wages, benefits and work rules.

3. The boss decides who gets to work overtime. The bulk of the overtime generally goes to a select few and many workers hardly get any. Double time is virtually non-existent. A union contract provides for equal distribution of overtime on a calendar-year basis. There is
specific language on overtime rates of pay and when or how you get them.

4. At Delta, you get what management allows you to have. You have no voice or vote in negotiations. With a union, you bargain for what you believe is fair and then you have the opportunity to vote on whether to reject or accept the contract. The collective bargaining process gives you a voice and a vote in your future.

Don’t let Delta dictate your future. Make a difference in your workplace with a union contract! Sign an A-Card today requesting the National Mediation Board to hold an election.

If we want the election to happen, pro or anti, sign the "A" card.

Do the union stewards run your whole life? If you argue with your wife , do you need them to step in? Can you guys do anything for yourself? There are so many laws on the books now to help you that unions are NOT needed. Delta like any other big company are so afraid of crazy big lawsuits that they bend over backwards to give you the benefit of the doubt. It is very hard to get fired at Delta. But we do get rid of people that need it instead of keeping them because they pay dues. The unions want dues and power and NOTHING else.

Opting to have a steward advocate on your behalf is strictly up to the individual.

Your vision of cutting their seniority in half is terrrible. You are so ate up with Delta that you cant see the truth.

Your response about ASA employees only makes me want to vote for the union more!!

Everytime you anti's respond, it only beefs up my vote for the union. Keep the comments coming!!!!!!!

Why doesnt Delta release the seniority integrated list for the ramp and upstairs? The flight attendants have done it. There has been no vote for them. The mechanics have done it. There is vote for them.

Again, every time you anti's say something it just proves the union is the right thing to do.

Unless of course you're in an impacted city, in which case...

"The committee is also recommending a temporary transitional solution for certain stations that are ‘impacted.' The temporary transitional solution is designed to reduce the impact in relative shift bidding power in certain stations where there are significant differences in seniority between pre-merger Delta and Northwest employees. The proposed solution will only apply for shift bidding purposes."
